What size self storage unit do I need?

There are many sizes of shipping containers available depending on your storage requirements. We help you choose which size storage container works best for you.

Let’s take a very quick look at the most popular size of storage container units used on our self storage sites. We have four sizes subject to availability on our facility:-

8 foot units (mini) for storing a studio flat

10 foot units (half size) for storing a one bedroom home

20 foot units (full size) for storing a three or four bedroom home

20 foot hi cube units (large+) for storing a four bedroom or more home

Full size units.

The most popular is a full sized container unit capable of holding a typical three bedroom house worth of contents.

These are approximately 1170 cubic feet internally.

These units, although hard to gauge the size from a photograph, can hold an ENTIRE three – sometimes a four – bedroom worth of contents including white goods such as the washing machine, tumble drier, fridge and freezer etc.

Large+ units.

We have a large+ unit which can hold a four – five bedroom house worth of contents. These hold around 1320cu feet of contents.

Half size units.

We have smaller storage units. Let’s look at a half size unit, below.

These half size container units are very useful

As you can see, these are quite a bit smaller than a standard or large+ unit and can hold around a one bedroom house worth of contents quite easily. They work out a little cheaper and are great value for money holding around 560cu feet worth of goods.

Mini units.

And last but not least, our rare mini units below:

These very small units can hold personal and business items with ease if you don’t need a great amount of storage space – however, looks can be deceptive – we have known people store a small studio apartment worth of contents in these. They’re bigger than you might think.
